Juvenile & Minor Information

If your minor child receives a citation, the child must be accompanied by a parent/legal guardian to sign for a court date and appear on the date of the court appearance.

The citation cannot be paid in advance of the court date. Appearance in court is mandatory.

Failure to appear in court may result in the parent being charged with an offense of Failure to Appear at the Hearing with the Child. Failure of the parent or legal guardian to appear with the juvenile is a separate misdemeanor offense against the parent or legal guardian, and an arrest warrant may be issued for their failure to appear. The obligation does not end when the child reaches age 17. On or before the seventh day after the date the child or parent changes residence, the court shall be notified of the current address in the manner directed by the court. The obligation to provide notice terminates on discharge and satisfaction of the judgment or final disposition not requiring a finding of guilt.
