Lost & Found Animals

Reporting a Lost or Found Animal

To report a lost or found animal, contact the Joshua Animal Services at 817-774-9450. Please be prepared to provide:

  • Your name
  • Your address
  • Your daytime phone number
  • A description of the animal
  • Information on the animal's tag

Important Factors

Please also include any identification tag numbers the pet may be wearing. The shelter staff maintains a list of all the animals reported missing or found. We will place your lost or found pet on our list based on the information that you provide.

Also it is very important to send an email to the shelter with a picture of the lost or found animal so the employees know exactly what to look for animalservices@cityofjoshuatx.us.

Other Helpful tips:

  • Check with all area animal shelters first.
    • Check with the animal shelter periodically, and make sure to visit in person. You know your pet best, and sometimes the way you would describe your pet is not always how others would describe it.
    • Remember to notify Animal Services if you have found your pet or have located the owner of the pet you have.
  • Post your pet on Pawboost - Lost and Found Pets
  • Check with local veterinarians.
  • Post fliers with a photo of the pet in all available locations.
  • Use social media. Facebook has many pages dedicated to lost and found pets. Joshua Animal Services has a Facebook page and you may post a lost or found pet. JAS tries very hard to post all found pets on our Lost/Found pets album on FB but that is not always 100% reliable. Come into the shelter and check!

Animal Impoundment

Animal owners are liable for their pet's action. You can prevent your animal from causing injury to someone else only if it is confined to your property or leashed and controlled as required by law. The animal's action must be restricted and regulated when not on the owner's property. Failure to comply with animal control laws could result in a court citation and impoundment of your animal.
