As the weather begins to warm up, many are visiting the city park and its various features.  Here are a few things you may want to know about the park to help plan your visit.

Q – Is swimming allowed in the park pond?

A – No.  The pond is part of the park irrigation system with large intake lines could be dangerous for swimmers.

Q – Is fishing allowed in the park pond?

A – Yes.  The pond has been stocked with catfish, bluegill, red ear and largemouth bass.  However, it is “catch and release” only.  A fishing license issued by the Texas Parks & Wildlife Department is required.

Q – Is camping overnight in the park allowed?

A – Overnight camping is prohibited in the park.

Q – Are picnic table reservations required?

A – No.  Picnic tables and grills are available on a first come, first-served basis. The Pavilion may be reserved by calling City Hall at  (817) 558-7447.

Q – Is the playground open to the public even if someone has reserved the pavilion?

A – Yes.  The playground is open to the public for play anytime during regular park operating hours.  Even if the pavilion is reserved for a private function, the playground is for public use and cannot be reserved.

Q – Can ball fields be reserved for a family game?

A – Yes.  Field reservations are scheduled by the Joshua Baseball Association. For more information, please visit the JBA website at www.eteamx.com/jbatx/

Q – Is smoking allowed anywhere in the park?

A – No.  The use of tobacco products in any form, anywhere in the park, including parking lots, is prohibited by city ordinance.
