Animal Control Officer
All dogs must be restrained by a leash or behind a fence at all times. The fence must be secure to prevent the dog from escaping. Dogs that are picked up running at large must be spayed or neutered within 30 days of reclamation.
Cats do not have a leash law, but all cats must be spayed or neutered to be outside. They must have a current rabies vaccination, city license, and a microchip. Cats that leave their own property may be humanely trapped and brought to animal control. Cats that are picked up and not spayed or neutered must be done within 30 days of reclamation.
Live traps are available to residents to remove unwanted animals. There is a $50.00 deposit.
Dogs may not be tied to a stationary object. Dogs must be on a cable run or trolley system for up to 3 hours daily and may not be tied between 10 pm and 6 am. Dogs that are tied must be on a chain or cable that is at least 10 feet in length or 5 times the length of the body or whichever is greater. The chain or cable must be affixed to a collar that is of the buckle type. You may not use a choke chain, prong type or wrap the cable or chain around the dog’s neck.
