To adopt a pet from Joshua Animal Services, you must meet the following requirements:
- Be at least 18 years old.
- Have a valid Texas driver's license.
- Complete the adoption agreement.
Important Notes:
- Per state law, all pets adopted from an animal shelter must be spayed or neutered and vaccinated against Rabies.
- Not all animals are guaranteed to become available for adoption. The evaluation process for adoptability may take several days.
- Some animals are held for specific reasons, and due to the nature of these situations, we may be unable to provide details about why a particular animal is not available for adoption.
- Joshua Animal Services reserves the right to deny any adoption.

Joshua Animal Services offers dogs and cats ready to find their forever homes. All adoptions require an application to help ensure animals are placed in the best possible homes, reducing the likelihood of returns.
Adoption Application Process:
- Applications are reviewed on a first-come, first-served basis.
- Processing typically takes 24–48 hours (business days only).
- Incomplete applications will not be processed. Intentional falsification or misrepresentation will result in denial.
- All communications regarding applications are sent via email.
Adoption Fees and Inclusions:
The adoption fee for dogs and cats is $140, which includes:
- Spay/Neuter*
- Rabies Vaccination*
- Age-Appropriate Vaccinations
- Microchip
- De-worming
- Heartworm Test (dogs over 6 months)
- Flea/Tick Prevention
- 30-Day Free Trial Pet Insurance
* State Law Compliance: Animals too young for spay/neuter surgery or rabies vaccinations will go home with vouchers to complete these procedures when age-appropriate. Spay/neuter and rabies vaccinations are required by state law and must be completed within the timeframe specified in the adoption contract.
Processing Times:
Adoption applications are processed Monday through Friday, excluding major holidays. While efforts are made to process applications on the same day, it may take up to 48 business hours for a response.
