You must be 18 years old, have a valid Texas driver's license and complete the adoption agreement. State law requires that all pets adopted from an animal shelter be spayed or neutered and vaccinated against Rabies.
There is no guarantee that an animal will go up for adoption. Evaluation of an animal for adoption can take several days.
We also hold animals for a variety of other reasons. Due to the nature of some of these situations, we cannot give out information as to why an animal is not available for adoption.
Joshua Animal Services reserves the right to refuse an adoption.

Joshua Animal Services has dogs and cats available for adoption. All animals in the Shelter require an adoption application from potential adopters. This helps ensure that the animals are going to the best home possible and also helps to reduce the adoption return rate. Applications are processed within 24 - 48 hours and on a first-come, first-served basis The adoption fee is $140 for dogs and cats and includes:
- Spay/Neuter*
- Rabies vaccination*
- Age-Appropriate Vaccinations
- Microchip
- De-worming
- Heartworm Test (dogs over 6 mos.)
- Flea/Tick Prevention
- 30-day free trial pet insurance
**Animals that are too young for spay/neuter surgery or rabies vaccinations may be sent home with vouchers to have this completed when age appropriate. Spay/Neuter and Rabies vaccinations are required by STATE LAW to be completed by the time specified on the adoption contract**
Adoption applications are processed Monday - Friday unless it is a major holiday. We do try to process applications the same day they are received so that pets can go home as soon as possible. However, it may take 24-48 (business) hours to receive a reply. All application submissions are answered via email. Incomplete applications will not be processed. Any intentional falsification or misrepresentation is grounds for denial of this application. Incomplete applications will NOT be processed.
