CHIEF ELECTION OFFICIAL – ALICE HOLLOWAY, CITY SECRETARY
The City Secretary serves as the Chief Election Official for the City of Joshua and is responsible for conducting all City elections as prescribed by the Election Code of the State of Texas.
Current Election-May 7, 2022 Election:
The next City of Joshua General Election will be held on May 7, 2022, for the positions of Mayor, Council Member Place 1, and Council Member Place 3.

Qualifications for Candidacy:
- Be a United States citizen (Texas Election Code)
- Each member of the City Council, including the Mayor, shall be a qualified voter of the City, shall have resided in the City for one (1) year before the date of the election, and be at least 21 years of age on the date of the election. In addition, any person who is convicted of a felony shall not be qualified to hold office on the City Council. If any member of the City Council, including the Mayor, becomes a candidate for any public office other than the one then held, that member’s current office shall be deemed vacant, in accordance with State Law. - Not have been determined by a final judgment of a court to be totally mentally incapacitated, or partially mentally incapacitated without the right to vote. (Texas Election Code)

Voter Eligibility
To be eligible to register in Texas, you must:
- be a U.S. citizen;
- be a resident of the county;
- be 18 years old (you may register at 17 years and 10 months);
- not a convicted felon (unless a person’s sentence is completed, including any probation or parole)
- not declared mentally incapacitated by a court of law
