The Joshua Fire Department was established October 22, 1951 as a volunteer department.
Today, the department continues to be volunteer staffed with the exception of the Fire Chief and Fire Marshall. It operates out of one fire station and responds to approximately 1,100 calls for service annually.
The department’s three service divisions include:
Fire Chief: Wayne Baker
This division is responsible for Emergency Preparedness, Hazard Mitigation, Hazard Warning, All-Hazard Response, as well as Incident Management from the City’s Emergency Operations Center
Assistant Chief (Operations): Lani Whiddon
This division is responsible for training, fire and EMS response, as well as recruitment of new volunteers.
Fire Marshall: Joey Kratky
This division is responsible for Fire Inspections and Plans Review, Public Education, Public Life and Fire Safety Education, Car Seat Installation Inspections, Fire Investigations, as well as Professional Conduct Investigations
