CITY OF JOSHUA NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARINGS

On January 7, 2008 at 7:00 p.m. during their regular meeting to be held at Joshua City Council Chambers in the City Hall, the Joshua Planning and Zoning Commission will hold a public hearing, to consider making a recommendation to the City Council to establish a zoning district of PD – Planned Development and consider a concept plan on 6.3 acres located in the McKinney & Williams Survey, Abstract No. 636, more commonly known as 531 Cooper Lane, Joshua, Texas.

On January 17, 2008 at 700 p.m. during their regular meeting to be held at Joshua City Council Chambers in the City Hall, the Joshua City Council will hold a public hearing regarding this request.

Any interested party is encouraged to provide written comments prior to the commencement of the meeting or speak at the public hearing.

P. Gentry Survey, Abstract No. 547, Tract 6, more commonly known as 1424 N. Main St., Joshua, Texas.

On January 17, 2008 at 7:00 p.m. during their regular meeting to be held at Joshua City Council Chambers in the City Hall, the Joshua City Council will hold a public hearing regarding this request.

Any interested party is encouraged to provide written comments prior to the commencement of the meeting or speak at the public hearing.

Chesapeake requests continuance until January 17 council

Chesapeake Energy requested a formal continuance from the city of Joshua for the council hearing scheduled on December 20, 2007. Chesapeake requested to be placed on the council session agenda on January 17, 2008 for discussion of the Sandlin-Heritage “A” pads.

No need for alarm over city alarm sounding

The alarm system in Joshua was set off this afternoon due to a technical malfunction. The Joshua Fire Department is currently working to turn off the alarm as quickly as possible. We apologize for the inconvenience.

The Joshua Planning & Zoning Commission will hold a Workshop at 6:30 p.m. and a Regular Session at 7:00 p.m. at the Joshua City Hall, Council Chambers, 101 S. Main, Joshua, TX on December 3, 2007. This is an open meeting, open to the public, subject to the Open Meeting Laws of the State of Texas. It is possible that a quorum of the City Council will attend, but members of the City Council will not participate in the meeting.

Public hearing for church seeking permit at December 3 P&Z session

On December 3, 2007 at 7:00 p.m. during their regular meeting to be held at Joshua City Council Chambers in the City Hall, the Joshua Planning and Zoning Commission will hold a public hearing regarding a request for a Conditional Use Permit to allow construction of a church in a R1 – Single Family Residential zoning district. The property is a 3.03 acre tract of land located in the George Wright Survey, Abstract No. 916, more commonly known as 120 Trailwood Drive.

Message re: City's Intent to Issue Certificate of Obligation Bonds

Many citizens have probably read the notices in the paper regarding the City of
Joshua’s intent to issue Certificate of Obligation bonds in the amount of $775,000, and several citizens have received a flier that is being distributed regarding this issue. The public notice that appeared in the newspaper includes language that is required by State law and Security and Exchange Commission requirements which is intended to clarify for the public the reason the debt is being issued and how it will be repaid, but, unfortunately, this language creates some confusion.
