Public Hearing Notice – Thoroughfare Plan

The City of Joshua’s Planning and Zoning Commission and City Council will conduct public hearings to  consider an amendment to the Thoroughfare Master Plan, contained in the 2016 Comprehensive Plan, by removing the existing 2-Lane Collector Roadway from SH 174 to CR 1023 and designating CR 904 west of SH 174 as a 2-Lane Collector Roadway

The Planning & Zoning Commission will conduct its public hearing on April 5, 2021 at 6:30 PM and the City Council will conduct its public hearing and consideration on April 15, 2021.

Both meetings will be held in the City Council chambers at Joshua City Hall, 101 South Main Street, Joshua, TX 76058.

COVID 19 Vaccine

Burleson waitlist for COVID-19 vaccines is now open for signup. This is for first doses in Phase 1A & 1B ONLY. If you are looking for your second dose this waitlist DOES NOT apply to you. If you’ve already signed up on our waitlist – DO NOT SIGN UP AGAIN – You will be contacted this week to set up your appointment. If you are unsure if you are on the waitlist, you can call (682) 312-2780 to confirm.
We utilize this waitlist for when we receive our next shipment of vaccines or if we have any cancelations. If you are signed up on the Tarrant County Health Department’s waitlist you can still sign up on this one and we encourage you to do so. The registration link can be found at:
SECOND DOSES If you received your first dose from Burleson Public Health and your second dose is due this week, we will be communicating with you via email to schedule your second vaccine.

Due to extremely high volumes as a result of the previous weeks’ storms, residents will only receive one collection this week-recycling will still be picked up.
Normal pickup schedules will be resumed next week. We want to thank everyone for their patience as Waste Connection works to catch up on collection.

Additional recovery programs have also been made available to aid Texans in recovering from this disaster.

Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) The Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) received federal approval to SNAP recipients to use their food benefits to purchase hot foods and ready-to-eat meals and for the replacement benefits for food lost or destroyed due to impacts from the severe winter storm.

USDA Programs The Texas Animal Health Commission (TAHC) continues to work with local, state, federal, and non-governmental partners to address the severe winter weather effects on Texas livestock and poultry and is working with the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) to deliver programs that provide assistance to rural communities, farmers and ranchers, families and small businesses affected by the recent winter storms.

Emergency Plumbing Permit Application

The severe weather event experienced by our region has caused considerable damage to residential and commercial properties in the City of Joshua. Among the damages reported are ruptured water pipes and irrigation lines, failed water heaters and furnace.
Due to the expected increase in plumbing permit applications received, the City of Joshua has created a new Emergency Plumbing Permit Application form on the city website. All emergency plumbing permit applicants are required to use this form, accessible via the following link:
Joshua City Council and staff are committed to ensuring that the recovery process is as efficient as possible for our residents and business owners. All emergency plumbing permit and inspection fees for work performed by plumbing contractors registered with the City will be waived.
Each plumbing contractor will be required to provide documentation to the City that the work has been performed in accordance with state code and City Ordinance. Homeowners and Commercial Insurance carriers often require work to be done by a licensed professional under the proper permitting process in order to process claims.
Additionally, to reduce inconvenience and wait times experienced by residents and contractors, inspections will be performed virtually via a process adopted by the Building Official in accordance with International Code Council

Press Release 2/22/2021

The severe weather event experienced by our region has caused considerable damage to residential and commercial properties in the City of Joshua. Ruptured water pipes, irrigation lines, and damaged hot water heaters, not to mention structural damage, sheetrock and flooring. As a result, the City Manager has authorized the Department of Development Services to waive all plumbing permitting and inspection fees that are a result of damage from the recent freezing weather.

An Emergency Plumbing Permit Application can be located on the City website  and available to all registered plumbers with the City. Proof of damage will be required and may be uploaded with the application.

This application will be available for 30 days. Times may be extended on a case-by-case basis. All repairs must be in accordance with International Plumbing Code 2015 and all local ordinances that apply

Bottled Water

UPDATE: The distribution of water has ended.

City of Joshua has limited availability of bottled water. Citizens are welcome to go to the Joshua Fire Department- 770 N. Main, enter through on the south side, go to the last bay area. Water will be handed out in limited quantities.

City Council Meeting Postponed

Due to the ongoing inclement weather conditions and power outages across the city, tomorrow’s regularly scheduled City Council meeting has been postponed until Tuesday, February 23, 2021.

We will not be operating thru tomorrow Thursday 18, 2021. Freezing temperatures do not plan to get above freezing until Friday afternoon. We are prepping the fleet and Site to potentially service businesses on Saturday. Should we run Saturday the focus will be (apartments, restaurants’, assisted living facilities, Hospitals).
I understand everyone’s concern for residential trash. As of now we don’t see the possibility of running Residential routes thru Friday with a small chance of running routes on Saturday. We are extra cautious on running residential routes as the roads through neighborhoods are very hazardous.
We will continue to update should there be any changes.

City offices will be closed on Tuesday, Feb. 16; 2021 due to inclement weather and hazardous road conditions. The safety of our employees and citizens are our top priority.

The following churches have opened their doors as warming stations, they are listed below.

Pathway Church. 325 NW Renfro St., is also set up to be a warming station but they currently do not have electricity.

Due to inclement weather conditions we will cancel all operations tomorrow. This week we will not skip service cycles as we will be pushing service one day forward since we are at the beginning of a service week.
It’s always a tough decision to delay service but we are keeping the publics safety, the safety of your communities and our employees at heart when making these decisions.

Waste Connections has informed the City that due to the road conditions, trash service will not run today.  Service will resume on Monday February 15.

Notice is hereby given that the City of Joshua Zoning Board of Adjustment will conduct a public hearing and consider approving a Variance to lot size and landscaping standards on a 1.26 acre tract of land located at the southeast corner of FM Highway 917 and State Highway 174, locally known as 103 & 105 South Broadway Street, Oak Knoll Addition and being located within the Restricted Commercial District (C-1), for a proposed 7-Eleven Development.

The Zoning Board of Adjustment will conduct its public hearing and consideration on January 25, 2021 at 6:30 PM. The meeting will be held in the City Council Chambers at Joshua City Hall, 101 South Main Street, Joshua, TX 76058.

As of the date of publication of this notice, it is unknown whether the meeting will be conducted in City Council Chambers or virtually.  The posted agenda for the meeting will contain appropriate information.

Public Announcement

This announcement is to notify Joshua citizens that a number of city employees have tested positive for COVID-19. As a result, the Animal Control Facility is temporarily closed. Please contact the police department if you have an emergency regarding animal control. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, however, our main goal is the safety of our citizens.

Christmas Closing

City Offices will be closed Dec. 24-25 and Jan. 1. There will be no disruption in the waste or recycle collection during the Christmas Holiday. Please dispose of trees properly. You may place your tree at the curbside on a regular scheduled collection day.

Election Day – December 19, 2020

Water Leak at City Park

Water to the City Park has been turned off due to a water leak repair. We hope to have the water service restored sometime tomorrow. We apologize for any inconvenience.
