Notice is hereby given that the City of Joshua’s Planning and Zoning Commission and City Council will conduct public hearings to consider the request for a zoning change from the (C1) Restricted Commercial District to the (R1) Single Family Residential District on a 36.283-acre tract of land in the T.W. Baird Survey, Abstract No. 40, Tract 1A, County of Johnson, Texas, located at 1301 S. Broadway St. The purpose of this request is to allow for the construction of two residential homes.
The Planning and Zoning Commission will conduct its public hearing on January 3, 2022, at 6:30 PM, and the City Council will conduct its public hearing and consideration on January 20, 2022, at 6:30 PM. Both meetings will be held in the City Council Chambers at Joshua City Hall, 101 South Main Street, Joshua, TX 76058.
City Hall will be closed from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm on November 17, 2021.

Notice is hereby given that the City of Joshua’s Planning and Zoning Commission and City Council will conduct public hearings to consider the request for a zoning change from the (R1) Single Family Residential District to the (C1) Restricted Commercial District on a 0.564 acre of land in the W.W. Byers Survey, Abstract No. 29, Tracts 92, 92A & 90A, County of Johnson, Texas. The properties are located at 218 E. 8th Street, 220 E. 8th Street, and a portion of 119 N. Broadway Street. The purpose of this request is to allow for a future commercial site.

Coffee with a Cop
The Joshua Police Department will be hosting its First Coffee with a Cop at the New Starbucks 1036 S. Broadway Joshua, Texas on November 9th at 10 am. Please come and meet the Men and Women of the Joshua Police Department. We hope to make this a common get-together. You will get to meet the Officers in a more relaxed environment.

Notice of Public Hearing on the FY 2021-22 Budget

NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
Notice is hereby given that the City Council of the City of Joshua, Texas will hold a public hearing on September 16, 2021, at 6:30 p.m. in the City Council Chamber located in City Hall, 101 South Main Street, Joshua, Texas.
The purpose of the public hearing is for consideration of the adoption of the proposed budget for the fiscal year beginning October 1, 2021, and ending September 30, 2022. At this time all citizens of the City of Joshua will be given an opportunity to provide written or oral comments and to ask questions concerning the proposed budget. Copies of the proposed budget are available for review with the City Secretary’s Office and on the City website at www.cityjoshuatx.us.
This budget is estimated to raise more revenue from property taxes than last year’s budget by an amount of $221,103 which is an 8.3% percent increase from last year’s budget. The estimate property tax revenue to be raised from new property added to the roll this year is $146,574.

Press Release – Police Chief
The City of Joshua is pleased to announce the appointment of David Gelsthorpe as Chief of Police for the City of Joshua. The appointment becomes effective following the official Oath of Office on Friday July 23, 2021.
David is currently employed with the city as a Lieutenant in the Police Department. David has Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice and is a Master Police Officer. Additionally, he is a graduate of Institute for Law Enforcement Education School of Police Supervision.
David replaces Shaun Short , who has accepted a new position in another City. Chief Short served the City of Joshua for 6 years and we wish him continued success in his new role.
Public Hearing Notice – Swimming Pool Setback Requirement

Notice is hereby given that the City of Joshua’s Planning and Zoning Commission and City Council will conduct a public hearing to consider a request to amend the Ch. 14 Zoning Ordinance, Article 5, section 5.3- Supplemental Use Standard Table- swimming pool property line setbacks to five feet (5’) instead of the current eight feet (8’).
The Planning and Zoning Commission will conduct its public hearing on August 9, 2021, at 6:30 PM and the City Council will conduct its public hearing and consideration on August 19, 2021, at 6:30 PM.
