Crud Cruiser Cancellation

Message from City of Fort Worth

The City of Fort Worth has declared a State of Emergency due to the ongoing COVID-19 situation. Efforts to curb the spread of this virus focus on reducing personal contact and restricting public gatherings (social distancing).

With this in mind, the Fort Worth Environmental Collection Center has made the difficult decision to cancel all mobile collection events through April 18, 2020. At that time we’ll re-evaluate the necessary cancellation of the remaining mobile events.

Unfortunately, the collection event scheduled on April 18th in Joshua has been impacted by this decision and we’ll not be able to host this event as planned. This was a tough decision to make, but it’s necessary to protect the health of everyone.

The Environmental Collection Center, 6400 Bridge Street, Fort Worth remains open and available for your residents. We commit to keep you informed of any changes or decisions made in a near future.

Thank you for your understanding and we look forward to working with you in the near future.

Emergency Addendum to the Regular Agenda

Due to the Imminent Threat to Public Health and Safety from the Coronavirus, and Pursuant to a Proclamation from the Governor of Texas dated March 18, 2020, Suspending, in part, Section 41.0052 (a) and (b) of the Texas Election Code, immediate action is required by the City Council.  The City Council will discuss and take action on the proclamation issued on March 18, 2020, by Governor Abbot authorizing all political subdivisions holding a general or special election on May 2, 2020 to postpone their election to the November 3, 2020 uniform date due to the health and safety of voters, election workers, and local election officials, and consideration of an Ordinance regarding same.

Municipal Court Notice

Based on a request by the Department of State Health Services (DSHS), I have ordered all “in person” dockets reset until after April 25. This includes initial appearances, show cause hearings, pre-trial, bench trials and jury trials.
The clerk’s office will remain (unless the City of Joshua determines otherwise) open during normal city hall business hours and will continue to process motions, pleas, and other filings. Email, mail and fax communications will still be processed.
This partial closure does not change any warrants, magistrations, or emergency orders.
I have consulted with the Department of State Health Services, The Office of Court Administration and the City Manager for the City of Joshua.
Thank you,
DeeAnn Strother
Presiding Judge
Joshua Municipal Court

Coronavirus and Future Meetings

First and foremost we must prepare but not panic. There is every reason to prepare and absolutely NO reason to panic. It is critical that while this is an ever-changing situation, we remain proactive while staying calm.

There is a nationwide effort to slow down its spread and it’s going to take all of us engaging. One critical factor in to engage in distancing when possible. You can still talk to folks, just do so at a greater distance and avoid touching anyone whenever possible. Avoid large crowds and ensure you wash your hands and such repeatedly throughout the day. If you feel sick…STAY HOME or if needed of course, seek medical care but DO NOT GO OUT otherwise. The more successful we all are with distancing, the more successful we will be in reducing the spread of this virus, with the eventual goal of eradicating it.

As of now, the March 19, 2020 City Council will be held. As always, the meeting will be open to the public. With the recommendation of engaging in distance, the City of Joshua has set up a YouTube channel. All future meetings, starting with the meeting next week, will be posted to the YouTube channel. This will allow all citizens to watch the meeting from home if they do not want to meet in a group setting.

Public Safety is our number one concern. Let’s prepare, be smart, and keep calm.
