The Joshua City Offices will be closed on Monday, May 30, 2011 in observance of Memorial Day.  Normal hours will resume on Tuesday, May 31, 2011.  Have a safe and happy holiday.

The Joshua Police Department will conduct testing for the open patrol position on Saturday, June 4, 2011 at 9:00 a.m. at the Police Department located at 102 S. City staff has received several inquiries regarding a proposed private club opening in Joshua.  Below is listed factual information regarding this item.

• The property that is being referred to is zoned “C-1″ Restricted Commercial.
• The City of Joshua Ordinance Land Use Table states that Private Clubs are permitted by right in C-1, C-2, and Industrial zoning districts.
• The City of Joshua Zoning Ordinance defines private club as: “an establishment providing social and dining facilities as well as alcholic beverage service to an association of persons, and otherwise falling within the definition of and permitted under the provisions of that portion of Title 3, Chapter 32, V.T.C.A., Alcoholic Beverage Code, as hereafter amended and as it pertains to the operation of private clubs.”
• The owner of the business has applied for a private club permit through the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission (TABC).  Individuals can contact the TABC complaint department regarding this permit application at www.complaints@tabc.state.tx.us or call 1-888-THE-TABC.
• The City of Joshua does not consider alcohol sales permits as the sale of alcohol is not legally permitted in the City limits at this time.
• Before the proposed club can open the business will need to obtain a building permit from the City of Joshua for any renovations, and will need to apply and be approved for a Certificate of Occupancy once building is complete.  The business will need to comply with all building codes in order to receive a Certificate of Occupancy.
• This issue will not be on any agenda for the Planning & Zoning Commission or the City Council.  A Private Club is permitted by right in the zoning designation of “C-1″ and does not require any consideration by any governing body.

The City Park is getting lots of use, and we are loving it!  The large pavillion can be reserved for events such as birthdays and reunions by contacting Joshua City Hall.  Large organized events such as community picnics, sports tournaments, etc. require a special permit with approval well ahead of time to avoid scheduling conflicts.  Keep in mind that during baseball season, Saturdays at the park will be crowded so please plan accordingly.

The North Texas Tollway Authority will conduct a public hearing on the financial forecast of the Chisolm Trail project in Johnson County.  The hearing will be held at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, March 23, 2011, at the Cleburne Conference Center located at 1501 W. Henderson Street in Cleburne. 

“The NTTA considers this an important milestone for the project, the region and the residents of Johnson County,” said NTTA Director of Project Delivery Elizabeth Mow.  “We understand how vital the delivery of this project is to the mobility of the region.  We look forward to sharing information about Chisolm Trail with the public and moving one step closer to construction.” 

During the hearing, the NTTA will present information about the design-build contract and project financing.  Before the NTTA can enter into a contract with the Section 6 (Chisolm Trail) design builder, the public hearing is required according to the Texas Transportation Code.

Chisolm Trail, approximately 13 miles long, is the southern-most portion of the Southwest Parkway/Chisolm Trail corridor starting from Farm-To-Market 1187 and extending to U.S. 67.  Upon construction, the Southwest Parkway/Chisolm Trail will be a 27.6-mile toll road that stretches from Interstate 30 at Fort Worth’s central business district to U.S. 67 in Cleburne.  The entire project is expected to open to traffic in 2014.
