IESI will collect Christmas Trees placed curbside during the regular trash collection days on Tuesday’s and Friday’s for the next several weeks. Trees will be collected at no cost to residents. Any tree that is more than 9 feet in height, will need to be cut in half to be removed.

These meetings are an important way to gauge public opinion about the transportation planning activities and air quality programs of NCTCOG and the RTC as the Metropolitian Planning Organization for the Dallas-Fort Worth area.Â

The City of Joshua Police Department will hold the first ever Citizens Police Academy. The Citizens Police Academy starts classes January 12, 2010 and is a ten week learning opportunity where Citizens of Joshua can gain knowledge of the Joshua Police Department’s personnel and operations. There will also be an opportunity to learn about general operations of the City as a whole. The goal of this program is to build trust and rapport between the citizens of our community and their Police Department, as well as provide understanding of what exactly the Police Department does and personal interaction with each officer. Citizens will gain an appreciation and understanding of the problems and challenges of their community as well as the problems and challenges law enforcement officers face today.

THE TAX RATE WILL EFFECTIVELY BE RAISED BY 8.00 PERCENT AND WILL RAISE TAXES FOR MAINTENANCE AND OPERATONS ON A $100,000 HOME BY APPROXIMATELY ($2.16).

The City of Joshua conducted public hearings on August 20, 2009 and September 10, 2009 on a proposal to increase the total tax revenues of the City of Joshua from properties on the tax roll in the preceding year by 5.28 percent.
The total tax revenue raised last year at last year’s tax rate of $0.653476 for each $100 of taxable value was $1,584,860.
The total tax revenue proposed to be raised this year at the proposed tax rate of $0.634331 for each $100 of taxable value, excluding tax revenue to be raised from new property added to the tax roll this year , is $1,641,851.
The total tax revenue proposed to be raised this year at the proposed tax rate of $0.634331 for each $100 of taxable value, including tax revenue to be raised from new property added to the tax roll this year, is $1,684,410.
The City Council of the City of Joshua is scheduled to vote on the tax rate that will result in that tax increase at a public meeting to be held on September 17, 2009 at Joshua City Hall, 101 S. Main, Joshua, TX at 7:00 pm.
