The City of Joshua City Council will hold a Joint Work Session with the Board of Directors of Tax Increment Financing District No. 1 at 6:30 p.m. at the Joshua City Hall, 101 S. Main, Joshua, Texas on March 5, 2008 This is an open meeting, open to the public, subject to the Open Meeting Laws of the State of Texas.

The Joshua Planning & Zoning Commission will hold a Workshop at 6:30 p.m. and a Regular Session at 7:00 p.m. at the Joshua City Hall, Council Chambers, 101 S. Main, Joshua, TX on March 3, 2008. This is an open meeting, open to the public, subject to the Open Meeting Laws of the State of Texas. It is possible that a quorum of the City Council will attend, but members of the City Council will not participate in the meeting.

February 24 through March 1 is Texas Severe Weather Awareness Week. In recognition of the commemoration, the City of Joshua would like to invite all residents to review the link at the side of our webpage for information on safety preparedness and action recommendations.

Please feel free to copy this information and share with your friends, neighbors and others who may be interested in learning more about severe weather safety, how to prepare beforehand, and what to do, in the event that you and your family find yourselves in a severe weather crisis.

All City offices will be closed Monday February 18th in observance of Presidents Day. We will return to regular office hours Tuesday, February 19th.

A GENERAL ELECTION WILL BE HELD ON MAY 10, 2008 TO ELECT A MAYOR AND COUNCILMEMBERS FOR PLACE #1, #3 AND #5.

Filing will be held from February 9 through March 10

Candidate filing packets may be picked up in the City Secretary’s office during regular office hours.

The deadline to register to vote is April 10, 2008 in order to be eligible to vote in the May 10, 2008 General Election. Joshua City Secretary, Mary Beth Thomas, advises that all registered voters should be in possession of a salmon-colored card issued in Jan. 2008. If you are unable to locate your card, please contact the Voter Registrar for Johnson County at 817-556-6197.

Due to the new Help American Vote Act, it is very important for voters to bring either their voter registration card or proper identification to the polling places.
